  • I think to really appreciate Amrit Yoga, you have to go several times and then somewhat regularly to see the benefits. If I don't go often enough, I do get sore so I am obviously getting some physical benefit. But the biggest benefit I have found is the peace and wholeness I get from practicing Amrit yoga. I love the meditative aspect. I feel like it is my therapy. The teachers are great! I have found that it affects my life for good just as much off the mat as on. The only thing I don't like, is the pay by donation. I'd rather know what I should pay. But that is part of my personality. ;) - An Amrit Yoga student

  • I agree with Alicia. If you want to really want to see what Shanta Yoga offers you must come experience a regular class. I have been practicing Amrit yoga with Ramdas and Dhruti for more than two years and I highly recommend Shanta Yoga to anyone interested in practicing yoga. Ramdas and Dhruti are gifted teachers and the small studio setting affords personalized instruction and attention. The Amrit approach is accessible and beneficial to all levels of students, from the beginner to the advanced. It is true that Amrit yoga is a “wholeness” approach and not a “power” approach to yoga, however students still get a great physical workout. Practicing the Amrit method, one moves slowly and purposely into a posture, holds the posture at length, and transitions intentionally out of the posture. This focused movement and posture holding provides an exceptional low-impact workout. You really do get out of it what you put into it. The physical benefits I have experienced from practicing yoga at Shanta Yoga have been amazing! Not only have I lost a great deal of weight, but I am much stronger and more flexible. I have also lowered my blood pressure significantly. But more importantly, because of my practice at Shanta Yoga, I have learned that my body is not my enemy, but rather it is my most powerful tool. For the first time since preadolescence I have a positive relationship with my body and am comfortable in my own skin and I credit this to Shanta Yoga. Practicing Amrit yoga is about more than just a good physical workout. Most types of yoga require you to be fully present and undeterred by outside distractions. Amrit yoga goes a step further and asks you to take the lessons you’ve learned while practicing on the mat into your real life experiences off the mat. This facet of Amrit yoga has significantly impacted my life. Practicing yoga at Shanta Yoga has helped me become much calmer, kinder, more peaceful, more patient, and less judgmental of myself and others. I highly recommend Shanta Yoga!
